Day in Downtown Charleston!

My newest adventure with the cousins (see “New Adventures Await” for more details) was a day in downtown Charleston, SC. I had never been there, so we traveled and visited the beautiful town for a day! Read more for fun stories and pictures!

We walked around long streets of colorful  – and some expensive – houses. We passed by many shops and boutiques on the way; I would have spent days exploring the little shops.

(Side note: A cat cafe is a cafe with prepackaged goods; you pay to get in and pet/cuddle cats while you eat and drink coffee, tea, etc. I did not go in but it was still fun to see!)

Throughout the day we saw a lot of historical monuments and buildings. It was all so beautiful! The mansions and churches in the area had these flourishing, green gardens and lofty porches with sconces and pillars.

There were lively street musicians and lots of dogs! (Squeal! I love dogs!)

We also visited a local farmers’ market, but pictures were not allowed. It was so much fun! Another little thing we did was incredibly enjoyable. We went into a convenience/pharmacy store that had a large wall of windows that looked out onto the sidewalk and street. The children proceeded to pose on the window’s ledge and make funny faces at the passerby. Some people looked disgusted and surprised. Others encouraged them and laughed kindly. One older gentleman made a funny face back at the kids. We enjoyed ourselves so much! There were peals of laughter filling the store and I could not remember the last time I had so much purely simple fun.

One of the historical places we passed had a gate to the street with an old plaque from eighteenth century, Scotland with a poem (or something…) that we could not figure out! We scratched our heads over this one for a while. See if you can figure it out; I surely cannot!

Let me know in the comments if you can make any sense of it! I hope you have a fantastic day; you are loved!
